At least one person died and six others were injured overnight as Ukraine fired over 650 drones toward the Moscow region. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that Russian air defenses downed 105 of the drones. The assault marks the largest aerial strike on the Russian capital in two years.
The campaign targeted the Volodarsk Linear Production and Dispatch Center near Konstantinovo, where reports confirm a major fire at the fuel facility. Kyiv stated its long-range strikes have now disabled 51 per cent of Russia’s oil refining capacity. Ukrainian officials argue the campaign cuts a vital revenue stream funding the invasion across a 1,200km front line.
The strikes continue despite repeated requests from US President Donald Trump to halt attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. Trump told reporters the drone campaign contributes to high gas prices in America. He also addressed a separate health crisis in Siberia after a laboratory worker died at a plague research institute. "We'll help," Trump said regarding the outbreak. He described the situation as a "big problem for Russia."
Meanwhile, Russian forces intensified their own ground assaults. Bombs struck a residential area of Kharkiv on Monday, killing six people and injuring nearly 60. Regional governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that three separate bombs hit the city, with 59 people injured and 30 hospitalized. Emergency crews recovered three bodies from the rubble.
Violence also spread to eastern Ukraine and the Black Sea. A Ukrainian drone strike killed three people on a bus in the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia region. In neutral waters, a fire sank the Romanian-flagged vessel Royad Mammadov, killing one crew member and injuring another before 11 others were rescued. Zelensky blamed Russian drones for the ship fire.
