The NFL suspended two officials for unprofessional conduct toward players during Sunday's games. Line judge Jeff Seeman received a two-game ban, while referee Adrian Hill was suspended for one fixture.
Seeman's suspension involves a confrontation with Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride during the team's 36-24 loss to the New York Giants. McBride felt interfered with by Giants cornerback Dru Phillips on a pass from quarterback Jacoby Brissett that fell incomplete. After being hit and complaining to the official, Seeman appeared to yell a profanity at McBride.
Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur commented on the incident on Monday, stating he wanted to extend grace to the official but emphasized the behavior was unacceptable.
Hill's suspension relates to an altercation with Minnesota Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson during the Vikings' 15-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Wilson was pushed into Hill by Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II midway through the first quarter after a play was whistled dead for a Minnesota penalty. As Wilson tried to help Hill up, the referee jumped up, pointed, and shouted at Wilson to move away.
"That was funny, honestly," Wilson told reporters after the match. "I ended up apologising to him and explained the situation. He was cool about it. He understood what was going on. He just said he didn't want us fighting."
