Two men accused of helping a Florida developer recruit killers for his estranged wife have pleaded guilty, closing the case. Clementa Johnson of Tallahassee and Diori Barnard of Miami entered their pleas on Monday, wrapping up the federal case against nine men charged in July 2024.
Sergio Pino, former head of Century Homebuilders Group, orchestrated the attacks against Tatiana Pino, his wife of 32 years, after she filed for divorce in 2022. Federal prosecutors say Tatiana "was subjected to a protracted stalking and attempted murder campaign involving criminal acts to include multiple arsons, poisonings, an automobile crash, and an instance where contract criminals brandished a firearm in furtherance of a plot to kill the victim."
Investigators linked the violence to a financial dispute over the couple's business assets, which court records value at more than $165 million. Sergio Pino died by suicide in July 2024 at his Coral Gables waterfront home as FBI agents moved in to execute an arrest warrant. Authorities found him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Johnson told police he was hired to recruit a team to kill Tatiana and was promised $250,000 for his efforts. Barnard was reportedly one of the individuals Johnson brought into the scheme. Both men were scheduled to face trial this week before agreeing to the plea deals.
Johnson will face sentencing on December 21, while Barnard's date remains unconfirmed. Each man faces a maximum penalty of life in prison for the conspiracy and murder-for-hire charges.
Acquaintances say Tatiana is now focused on healing and supporting her two children through the ordeal. Former Real Housewives of Miami star Ana Quincoces said, "Tatiana was always a beauty and a really good mother."
