Donald Trump mocked Kamala Harris's appearance during a Tennessee midterm rally, drawing laughter from female supporters while echoing a long-standing pattern of personal remarks about the former vice president.
Trump appeared to step away from prepared remarks Saturday to recall campaign rallies held by Harris and former President Joe Biden during the COVID-19 pandemic. He sarcastically praised Harris before the crowd reacted. “Remember that beautiful Kamala? Somebody said she’s so beautiful. Really?” he said. Several women behind him laughed, with one giving Harris a thumbs-down and another shaking her head vigorously.
The Tennessee comments fit a recurring theme. In August 2024, Trump discussed a Time magazine illustration of Harris during a livestreamed conversation with Elon Musk. He compared her appearance to Melania Trump and called her beautiful. Less than a week later at a Pennsylvania rally, he warned the crowd against calling women beautiful, but insisted he is a better-looking person than Harris.
Trump also used the Saturday event to discuss his wife. He claimed Melania Trump dislikes his unscripted speaking style, calling it inelegant and unbecoming of the office. He defended his remarks by pointing to his election victory. Trump praised his wife as elegant and mentioned her documentary, claiming it ranked as the No. 1 film of the year. He joked about the ranking, saying only one person can be the star of a family.
