Adnan Wahoud, a mechanical engineer and inventor living in Germany, has finally received his passport back. The Syrian embassy in Berlin returned the document after the former Assad government seized it 43 years ago.
Officials confiscated the passport because Wahoud refused to cooperate with the former government. The hold remained in place for decades before the embassy processed its return.
The embassy cleared the long administrative barrier after reviewing the case. The document now restores Wahoud's full consular standing.
He can now travel and handle official matters under his own name. The release ends a decades-long wait for the German resident.
