Quentin Tarantino has cast Sacha Baron Cohen in his first-ever stage play, marking the director's transition from cinema to the London West End.
The production, titled The Popinjay Cavalier, will mark a major shift for a filmmaker known for his violent movie classics.
Set in 1830s Europe, the script explores deception and disguise. Tarantino will also direct the show, which Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sonia Friedman Productions will co-produce. The team behind Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Paddington the Musical will help bring the project to life.

The 63-year-old director plans to step away from filmmaking after his tenth feature film. He has already completed nine movies and won two Oscars for writing Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained. Tarantino revealed last summer that the script was finished and said he would likely relocate to England with his wife, Daniella Pick, and their two children to oversee rehearsals.
Baron Cohen, 54, has built a career on creating memorable comedy personas like Borat Sagdiyev and Ali G. He said he was "beyond delighted" to join the project. "When the best director in the world calls, you don't ask questions," he said. The actor has won two Baftas and three Golden Globes, while earning three Oscar and six Emmy nominations.
The Popinjay Cavalier will open at the Phoenix Theatre on 18 March 2027. Tickets go on sale Monday starting at £25. A full cast announcement will follow.
