Teenager charged with murder after man stabbed to death in Sydney

Police have charged two teenagers with murder after a man in his 30s died from stab wounds in Mt Druitt on Friday.

Emergency services received calls about an assault that evening. Officers found the victim suffering from torso injuries. Paramedics attempted to help him, but he died at the scene.

Investigators arrested the 13-year-old at the local police station on Sunday. He faces charges for murder, breach of bail, and an unrelated robbery offence. Officers took a second suspect, aged 16, into custody at a Cabramatta residence later that day. He was charged with murder and being an accessory after the fact.

Supt Brendan Gorman said detectives are reviewing the scene and have collected a bladed instrument along with other evidence. The superintendent noted there were about "a dozen people" in the area when the stabbing occurred. He described the event as a "horrendous incident" and confirmed officers are working to determine if the attack was random or targeted. The victim has not been formally identified, though police believe he has some history with law enforcement.

Authorities are asking anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward. Both boys were denied bail and will appear before children’s court on Monday.
